Everything Magento, under one roof

Magento gives a business more control than any hosted platform, and asks more of the team behind it. Hosting, versions, extensions, integrations and search all need looking after at the same time. Our strategists, designers, Magento developers, integration engineers and growth specialists work as one team, so the store, the code and the systems around it are planned together.

What we do on Magento

Magento stores that keep running

A Magento store is never finished. Adobe releases security patches through the year, extensions need updating to match, and every change has to be tested against the custom code already in the store. Stores that fall behind get slower, harder to change and more exposed.

Through Managed eCommerce we look after stores day to day, so we build Magento to be run: custom code kept apart from the core so upgrades go in cleanly, every change tried on a copy of the store before it goes live, and the store joined to the rest of the business from the first day.

We work with brands growing on Magento Open Source, businesses on Adobe Commerce with large catalogues, B2B sellers taking trade orders online, and multichannel retailers selling on eBay and Amazon alongside their own store. Based in Huddersfield, working with brands across the UK.

Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce?

Both editions run on the same core. Magento Open Source is free to use, and you choose the hosting and every extension yourself. Adobe Commerce is Adobe’s licensed edition, and adds the features larger and trade-focused businesses tend to need.

In plain terms, Adobe Commerce adds:

  • B2B features: company accounts, shared catalogues, quotes and requisition lists
  • Content staging, so pages and offers are scheduled and previewed before they go live
  • Customer segments with their own prices, content and promotions
  • Hosting on Adobe’s cloud, with Adobe’s own support behind it
  • Adobe’s search and product recommendation services

The audit sets out which edition fits, with the licence weighed against what it adds and what you would otherwise build with extensions. Plenty of brands are well served by Open Source; where Adobe Commerce pays back, we show you where it earns its licence.

Hyvä themes and store design

When a Magento store feels slow, the front end is usually where the time goes. The standard Luma theme makes every page download a heavy load of scripts before a customer can do anything. Hyvä replaces it with a far lighter front end built for speed, and it is where we start new Magento designs. The Hyvä theme itself is now free and open source, so what a move costs is the design and the build, never a licence.

Our designers work from research into how your customers find, compare and buy, with desktop and phone designed together and signed off before the build. Our developers build the theme on Hyvä, with your design kept apart from the code underneath, so upgrades go in without undoing it. Pages are checked for speed and accessibility before they go live.

  • Desktop and phone designed together, signed off before the build
  • Built on Hyvä, light enough to load fast on a phone
  • Your design kept apart from the core code
  • Extensions checked and made to work with Hyvä

Upgrades, patches and Magento security

Every Magento version has an end date for its security support, and the audit tells you when yours ends. Every upgrade also reaches into the extensions and custom code around it. Put off for too long, a routine upgrade turns into a rebuild.

We keep stores current, from the next security patch to a move from Magento 1 to Magento 2, and every upgrade follows the same five steps:

  1. 1The store audited first: version, extensions, custom code, hosting and the integrations that depend on them.
  2. 2Every extension checked against the new version, then updated, replaced or rebuilt where it falls short.
  3. 3The upgrade done on a copy of the store, never on the live one.
  4. 4Checkout, search, integrations and the busiest pages tested before anything switches.
  5. 5The switch timed around your trading days, with a way back kept ready until the new version has settled.

Security patches go in as Adobe releases them, tested the same way.

Taking over a Magento store

Many Magento stores come to us after years with another agency or developer, carrying extensions nobody remembers installing and code nobody wants to touch. Our team starts with an audit of the code, extensions, hosting, speed and search, and sets out what is costing you sales, what is a risk and what can wait. Then we fix it in that order, and take over the running of the store if you want us to. You do not need to rebuild to start working with us.

Extensions and custom Magento development

Magento’s strength is what it lets you build. When an extension does most of the job, the missing part is usually the one the business depends on.

Our developers build it as custom modules, for logic like:

  • Prices, rules and catalogues for each customer group
  • Products built from options, with the right price at every step
  • Stock held for one channel, or spread across several warehouses
  • Delivery rules, checkout steps and payment options of your own
  • Product data shaped for each marketplace from one record

Custom code lives in its own modules, never in the core, so it is documented, tested and carried through every upgrade.

Magento joined to the rest of the business

Magento is rarely the only system in the business. Products come from an ERP or a product information system, orders also arrive from eBay and Amazon, stock lives in a warehouse system and the money lands in the accounts. When the joins are weak, the store shows the wrong stock or the wrong price, or takes an order that never reaches the warehouse.

With 50+ channel integrations behind us, we join Magento to:

  • eBay and Amazon, with one catalogue and one stock figure across every channel
  • Linnworks and other order and warehouse systems, so every order is picked, packed and sent from one place
  • Xero and your ERP, with sales, fees and refunds matched in the accounts
  • Klaviyo, with the order and product data your emails need
  • Your product data, couriers and the rest of what the business runs on

Every connection is watched, with an alert when one fails, and one system is in charge of each number.

B2B commerce on Magento

Magento has long been a strong base for selling to trade buyers. We set up company accounts with several buyers each, shared catalogues with their own prices, quotes, requisition lists and quick order by product code, and payment on account, so trade orders come in online alongside retail on the same store. On Adobe Commerce most of this is built in; on Open Source we build it with extensions and custom modules.

Magento SEO and growth

Magento gives you more control over search than most platforms, and more ways to get it wrong. We fix what holds Magento stores back: filters that create thousands of near-identical pages, products reachable at several addresses, slow pages, category pages with no words on them, and redirects lost in an upgrade. Our growth team then runs content, search and shopping ads, and email that brings customers back, as one plan from your own numbers.

AI agents inside your Magento store

Large Magento catalogues are where agents earn their place: product descriptions and attributes written in your brand’s voice, images checked against every listing, prices compared across your channels, and customer service replies drafted with the order already looked up. Your team’s time goes on the decisions.

No agent changes the store on its own. Every change is a dry run first, you approve it, the store is backed up before anything is applied, and every change is logged so it can be put back. Agents never delete.

Staying on Magento, or moving on

We build on Magento, Shopify and Medusa, so we have no reason to keep you on any one of them. For many businesses Magento remains the best base, above all with a large catalogue, complex pricing or trade buyers. For others the cost of hosting, upgrading and maintaining it no longer pays back, and a move to Shopify, or a headless build on Medusa, does. The audit sets out both paths, with the running costs side by side.

Magento support and Managed eCommerce

Most Magento support stops at the code. Through Managed eCommerce a senior team looks after the whole store month after month: patches and upgrades, extension updates, hosting and speed checks, new features and fixes, and the trading work as well, from products and promotions to the listings on eBay and Amazon. Each month brings a report against agreed targets, and one accountable lead knows the store, the code and the business behind them.

Questions about Magento

Book a call
  • Should we stay on Magento or move to Shopify?

It depends on the catalogue, the pricing and the cost of running the store. Magento suits large catalogues, complex pricing and trade buyers; Shopify suits brands that want less to look after. We build on both, and the audit sets out the running costs of each side by side.

  • Do we need Adobe Commerce, or is Open Source enough?

Open Source with the right extensions covers most growing brands. Adobe Commerce earns its licence when you need its B2B features, content staging, customer segments or Adobe’s hosting. The audit shows which side of the line you are on.

  • Can you take over our existing Magento store?

Yes. We start with an audit of the code, extensions, hosting and speed, fix what is costing you sales first, and take over the running of the store if you want us to.

  • How do you stop an upgrade breaking the store?

Every upgrade is done and tested on a copy of the store first, every extension is checked against the new version, and the switch is timed around your trading days with a way back ready.

  • Is Hyvä worth it?

For most stores still on the standard Luma theme, yes. Hyvä is far lighter, so pages load faster on a phone, and the theme itself is now free. The audit measures your store and shows what would change.

  • Who owns the store and the code?

You do. The store, its data and every custom module we build are yours, documented so another team could pick them up.

  • Is it safe to let AI agents work on our store?

They cannot act on their own. Every change is a dry run first, approved by you and backed up before it is applied, and agents never delete.

  • Where do we start?

With a free audit. Send us your website. We review the business behind it and reply by email with where to start.
